You Are Out of My ControlWhen I see you

I remember the timewhen I was shot with adrenaline, that time the bees stung me all over.It felt as if my heart would explode.

Will my heart explodea little at a timenow that you have stung me all over?

When I see you

I tastethe three flavor, triple-scoopbanana splitthat made a messof my newly laundered shirt.

I have tasted your many flavors. What sort of messwill we make?

When I see you

I feel again my worst sunburnmy back soothedwith cool, numbing aloe.

How will we burn now?Is there an unguentthat works to numb our pain?

But when I don't see you

I feel the bone deep nausea beginand my stomach is knotted insour leaps of fearand then I see youand I drag myexploding, messy, burning selfto the only one whose touchis so much like an abundant opioidrunning like sugar through my brain.

I am powerless to resist.
