If the Night So Too the Morning
Did you know I whisper things to youin the night when you are seized in a paralytic sleepwe are nights conquest in its negligee of fognight that mimics our finalityDid we defy mortality long agowith our little deathsour delicious agonized finishesI hover my face over youto match my breathing to yoursand wonder of the course and varianceof your dreams as I whisper
let them commingle --these dreams--in some recitation of our infirmities--a weakness here a breakage acknowledged--this is how night works its murderous ways
we are now with badly mended wingsbut I will fly these hours with youto where night takes us as its downdraftssmash us to the groundI whisper regrets with a crumpled faceI whisper love with ashen breathI whisper lust with a kiss to you handand even as the grey dawn creepsbeyond the shuttered windowsand everything is stripped away
It is then we find ourselves newand perfect again.
