Fractals
by Ryan Carson
for alex haristhal
the dreams recede occasionallyand they settle into the damp sandof my subconscious, rocked into candor.
when insomnia cracks the windshieldof my vision, I rememberwhat alex had to say about fractalsand that it’s reassuring, that you don’t always notice them
but seriously, they’re always therewhich is my favorite thing about celebritiesI can just think about what they are doingat any given timeunlike friends who must be clutchedand located, texted, are you ok?yeah, it does feel like the sky is alwaysfalling, but it’s only rainingall the fucking time
but celebrities, I wonder what they’re doing manthey aren’t suffering, well not in the way that to clean a house is suffering
instead I like to think that mobyis driving up a hilly carpet of evergreenscourtney cox in an apple orchard with lensesreflecting granny smith and golden, delicious
and me, clear lenses of fractal in admittedlysick deck shoes on an admittedly shitty and sinking yachtSequestered, and sloppy in my best stripes I drink for sustenance.
