J.M.C. Kane is the author of Quiet Brilliance: What Employers Miss About Neurodivergent Talent and How to Finally See It. His essay, “Nomenclature of a Life”, cataloguing his experience as a person with ASD-1, was awarded the 2026 Ellis Prize for Nonfiction (New Ohio Review). His essay, “Fish Stories” won the Prism Review 2026 National Non-Fiction Award. “The Shoulder”, his most recent work of fiction was awarded first prize in the 2026 Moth Short Story Contest and his recent poem “Sediment” was the runner-up in the 2025 Gulf Coast Journal Poetry Prize.
